ATA Bankruptcy was sought out yesterday as a Chapter 11 filing was made at the US Bankruptcy Court in Indianapolis. This is the second time in the last 4 years that the company has sought bankruptcy protection from its creditors.

The ATA Bankruptcy comes as a surprise to some people, but it just goes to show how much the airline industry is struggling right now. It is obviously compacted by the struggling US economy which does not help in these times. Air Tran Airlines had an unexpected cancellation of a military charter flights contract and because of that it made it impossible to get financing. The ATA Bankruptcy has also caused the airline to state that it will no longer honor reservations or tickets and that customers should find alternate means of transportation.

The airline also issued an apology in their statement saying that there employees worked really hard to avoid having this happen, but there is not much else they can do at this point. ATA Bankruptcy has caused the airline to shutdown. If we hear anymore news about this story we will provide an update.
