Florida Blackout and Miami Power Outage? There was a major power outage today in South Florida. It caused blackout conditions to around 4 million people.
The Florida Blackout was completely unexpected and there have been some news reports that have provided some insight as to what happened. The Miami power outage was caused by a problem with a Dade County substation. This led to the loss of a transmission line and caused many power plants to shut down.
The Florida Blackout triggered an emergency program that is designed to stop power consumption when things like this happen to keep the electric system in balance. A spokesperson for the Florida Power & Light company said that the Miami power outage problem has been fixed and they are now working to restore power to people in South Florida.
