Kobayashi Iwamura is the fake baseball player that Kyle Kendrick was traded for in a huge prank that took place on Saturday.  The pitcher came to spring trainer expecting to have a job with the Philadelphia Phillies still.  He soon found out that he had been traded to Japan for Kobayashi Iwamura and $1.5 million dollars.

Kendrick had no idea who Kobayashi Iwamura was and he was in complete shock that he had been traded.  He proceeded to sign paperwork agreeing to the deal and was also given a list of things he had to do for the trade to be complete.  The media then started to ask Kyle Kendrick questions about the deal, so he had no reason to even think it was anything but real.  It turns out that everyone including the media was in on the prank.

Kobayashi Iwamura is a fake name that was made up.  It was taken from Takeru Kobayashi, who is a record holding hot dog eater.  The whole story is quite funny and Kyle Kendrick eventually lightened up after finding out he wasn’t going anywhere.  If we hear anymore breaking news about this story we will provide an update.
