Nicole Elizabeth Rash Miss Indiana was the first runner up in the Miss America 2008 pageant. She was followed by Elyse Umemoto Miss Washington as the second runner up in the contest.
Nicole Elizabeth Rash lost out to Miss Michigan Kirsten Haglund. Up for grabs was a $50,000 scholarship and a free year of travel doing the normal promotion or work the Miss America 2008 winners does. It was definitely a close race and Nicole Elizabeth Rash got as close as she possibly could without actually winning the contest.
With Nicole Elizabeth Rash Miss Indiana only getting first runner up she still received some scholarship money that she can use towards college, but it wasn’t the $50,000 she was hoping for. Another contestant that caught the eye of the public was Miss Utah, Jill Stevens. She was voted the America’s Choice contestant. She was voted out in the round of 16.
