GolfWeek Noose, has the popular golf magazine gone to far? That is a big topic of discussion today as the cover of the January 19th issue of GolfWeek magazine. The cover has a picture of a noose with a purple backdrop behind it.
The GolfWeek Noose cover story is obviously about the racial comment that was made by the Golf Channel announcer Kelly Tilghman associated with Tiger Woods. The comment was made during a live golf event, but was not meant to be offensive. She said “Lynch him in a back alley” in talking about Tiger Woods and how difficult it is for anyone to be him. She said that someone would have to do this to him if they wanted to beat him at golf.
The GolfWeek Noose story is most likely just going to add to the fire that has been dying out around the issue. The Golf Channel suspended Kelly Tilghman for two weeks because of her comment. She did however apologize immediately to everyone and also directly to Tiger Woods. The Tiger Woods camp came out and said right away that this was a non-issue, but the media and rights activists have not let this go.
