Joachim Schueth

Joachim Schueth is a software engineer from Germany. He recently beat the Colossus computer in a code breaking challenge.
Joachim Schueth wrote a program that was able to decipher the intercepted message an hour and a half faster than the World War II computer. The Colossus was a top secret computer that was used back during World War II to intercept messages and decipher them. This is the first time a Colossus has been used since it was ordered to be destroyed by Winston Churchill.
Joachim Schueth created the challenge to pay tribute to those that used it during World War II. He said that the work they did with it was very important to ending the Nazi dictatorship. The computer now sits in Britain’s National Museum of Computing. I am surprised the old computer performed so well. Considering the time difference I would have thought computers now days would have blown it away.
