Mangrove Rivulus is a tropical fish that has a very unique characteristic. It can live for months with out being in water.
The Mangrove Rivulus is a very interesting creature. It lives in mangrove swamps of the United States, Brazil, and Belize. It tends to stay in shallow pools of water in really weird places such as crab burrows, coconut shells, and old beer cans. When the dry months come the tropical fish live on the land. The crazy thing is that they live in logs.
When the Mangrove Rivulus tropical fish is not in water they breathe through there skin until they can find water again. In a study done by one scientist he said that the tropical fish could live outside of water for 66 days without food and their metabolism will keep functioning normally. What a crazy story about a crazy Mangrove Rivulus tropical fish.
