Icecap.us is a website about the environment.  Yesterday founder of the Weather Channel, John Coleman, posted an article on the Icecap.us website.

Icecap.us is a website dedicated to the environment.  It was receiving so many hits yesterday that it was very difficult to even get to the website.  In the article John Coleman wrote he provide some very interesting insight into the global warming theory.  He also comes right out and says it is a scam.  That’s right he claims global warming is a scam.

If you can you should try to go to Icecap.us and read his post.  I read it yesterday and provide a summary of what he claims.  It is very interesting and he makes some very good points.  What do you think about global warming being a scam?  Could this be true?  We will continue to follow the story and provide any breaking news updates.  You can read more about John Coleman and his statement on Icecap.us here

I really don’t believe it is a scam. There is just too much evidence to suggest the contrary. People like GWB would have you believe it doesn’t exist, and people who would like to stick their heads in the sand will easily believe the same as GWB.

    Dear Adam “Gore”

“Global Warming” is Earths natural cycle. It is not caused by humans. If it were caused by humans, how do you explain the heating and cooling of Earth before humans were driving autos? How do you explain high CO2 levels…higher than they are now, before humans even roamed the planet?? So…is “Global Warming” a scam? Nope, its the natural cycle of Earth. The scam is that it is being blamed on humans! It is being blamed on humans by people who pollute the planet more in a week than I will in a lifetime!! The sad part is you BELIEVE them.

Hey, Adam…get YOUR head out of the sand.

None of us know for certainty what global changes will occur since there is no recorded history charting past changes but geological evidence indicates that there have been many cycles of warming-then-cooling over the eons.

Could we have accellerated the warming? Probably. Can we stop the eventual cooling-cycle when it arrives? Unlikely. If you want somebody to “blame”, don’t focus on our current leaders - go back 30 or so years to the anti-nuclear radicals who ensured we continued with fossil fuel consumption instead of going to nuclear power which has a much smaller negative environmental ‘footprint’.

Typically its all about “us” which proves once again the small mindedness of the typical consumer and the “dark side” of educational mediums such as newspapers, internet and TV.

Fact is the Earth moves around the Sun and the Sun moves around the galaxy. Not to mention the various sun spots and space debris along the way we have to expect changes to our planet regardless of what humans do to it.

You would think we have gone beyond believing the world is flat. Apparently not.

Pete - I’m in the throws of changing my mind. Not about all the evidence that points to AGW as being a huge scam, but concerning a rational way to approach people like Adam. You know that if you challenge people like him to produce some his ” ..just too much evidence.. ” he will go on about polar bears or coral reefs or Bangladesh etc and you end up arguing about the veracity of the information he gets from NBC versus the information you get Anthony Watts or Joe D’Aleo for example. So my new tack is to teach them that a foundational element of science itself is “falsifiability” vis-à-vis Einstein’s famous “100 experiments cannot prove me right but one can prove me wrong”. IF you are able to get THAT point across to someone like Adam then you proceed to challenge them to provide an example of what exactly would disprove AGW in THEIR MIND? It puts THEM on the defensive! Once you challenge them to come up with something - they have no where to run. They begin to see the problem that IF they cannot provide an example of what would convince them that AGW is either non-existant or extremely unlikely or ‘insignificant’, they then appear to be believing AGW as a matter of FAITH - not a matter of science like us.

Hey Adam! What is your reaction to the picture of the USS Skate surfacing in open water at the north pole on March 17, 1959? Just wonderin…
