Arthur Bremer George Wallace. What do these two have to do with each other? Well George Wallace was the Alabama Governor that was shot and paralyzed in 1975 by Arthur Bremer. The Governor of Alabama was on a presidential campaign stop in the Maryland area when he was shot.
Arthur Bremer was released from prison early this morning. He served 35 years of the sentence that he was given. That is a really long time. Arthur Bremer is currently 57 years old. George Wallace spent the rest of his life in a wheel chair from the gun shot wound.
The family of George Wallace feels that Arthur Bremer has not been punished enough. He was sentenced to 57 years in prison but was released early. Inmates that are released from the prison he was staying at are given street clothes and $50 upon their release. They also are supposed to be subject to electronic monitoring. It is not certain whether this type of setup is in place.
Arthur Bremer claims his motive for committing the crime was to gain attention. He wanted his claim to fame. Well he got what he wanted and he also got a ton a years behind bars.
