Gamma Hydroxy Butyrate or GHB
Filed Under Health, U.S. News |
Gamma Hydroxy Butyrate is one of the biggest reasons why the Aquadots Recall took place this week. Better known as GHB or Liquid Ecstasy, this drug becomes GHB when it is ingested. Prior to it being ingested it is in the GBL or gamma butyrolactone format. GBL was found to be in the makeup of the Aquadots beads.
Gamma Hydroxy Butyrate or GHB can be a very dangerous drug. Depending on the dosage consumed the effects can be very different. Some effects of a small dosage of the drug include intoxication, increased energy, desire to socialize, mild disingibition, enhanced sexual experience, loss of coordination due to loss of muscle tone, nausea, and loss of gag reflex. Some bad reactions to a small dosage include drowsiness, dizziness, amnesia, vomiting, respiratory problems, loss of consciousness, being conscious but unable to move, and even death. If a large dosage is taken the effects only get worse. They include sedation, disinhibtion, rambling incoherent speech, giddiness, difficulty thinking, passing out, as well as death.
Gamma Hydroxy Butyrate is not something to mess around with. It is easy to see why GHB is called the date rape drug. Spin Master is doing the right thing by having Aquadots removed from the shelves. Let’s just hope something bad doesn’t happen in the mean time before they all get removed and destroyed properly. If we hear any breaking news regarding this case we will provide an update.
