Ryan Shay Dies at Olympic Marathon Trials, Leaves Behind His Wife Alicia Shay

Ryan Shay dies at the Olympic Marathon Trials. Around the 5 mile mark of the race he collapsed to the ground and had to be given CPR. He was rushed to Lenox Hill Hospital, but doctors were not able to save his life. He was pronounced dead at 8:46 a.m. this morning. He is survived by his wife Alicia Shay.
Ryan Shay has a history of performing very well in marathons. He is a four time national champion and has victories in the 2003 USA marathon, 2003 and 2004 half-marathon, and the 2004 USA 20km races.
Ryan Shay and his family are surely trying to figure out how this could of happened and his doctors should be able to figure out what was the cause of death. An autopsy may be necessary to do so. He will surely be missed by his family and friends and it is always hard to see an athlete go that is in the public eye. His wife Alicia Shay will miss him the most.
