Richard Parsons and Google? The Internet giant has had a small issue with what a search for Parsons was showing in the results.
Richard Parsons, Time Warner CEO, name could be searched for in Google news and one the search results that has been coming up is a picture of two Rhesus monkeys. If you clicked on the picture it would take you to a story about the recently retired CEO of Merrill Lynch Stanley O’neal.
Richard Parsons and Stanley O’neal are both black and the article the picture linked to talked about the lack up support the ex-CEO of Merrill Lynch had from the board of directors.
Google is saying that the mix-up of the photo and what it linked to had something to do with the automation process for crawling webpage’s. They also provided this statement, “While we don’t comment on individual stories on Google News, crawling thousands os sites across the globe is a complicated task, and we’re confident that the quality of the crawled pages is extremely good for the vast majority of news sources on our site.”
It is hard to believe that this is some kind of fluke; my best guess is someone somehow hacked a story and provided a link to another story. Richard Parsons and Google seem to be ok after this event we will see if any legal action is taken by Parsons. We will update you with any breaking news regarding this story.
