405 Year Old Clam
405 Year Old Clam has been discovered off the coast of Iceland. This clam is said to be the longest lived creature ever known to date.
The 405 year old clam was found by a team of scientists from Bangor University. This school specializes in ocean studies and is located in Wales. The scientists have been conducting a project studying clams to try and determine what effect humans have had on the environment. They do this using clams because clams form a ring inside their shell for each year that passes by. They can also determine the change in the climate during a particular year by the thickness of each ring.
405 year old clam has been nicknamed the “Ming.” It is named this after the Chinese Dynasty which ruled around 400 years ago. This is an amazing discovery and who would have known clams could live to be so old? It makes you wonder if there are a lot more clams out there that may be even older than this. I’m sure they will be looking harder now. We will provide an update if there is any breaking news regarding the 405 year old clam.
