Lucid Absinthe is a liquor that was banned more than 95 years ago from being sold in the United States. The liquor’s past is as cloudy as the liquid itself. The legend, as some call it, of the ban is full of stories of people going crazy after drinking Lucid Absinthe.
Lucid Absinthe has also been called the “green fairy” is made up of some interesting herbs. These include fennel, anise, and grande wormwood. The grande wormwood, also called Artemisia absinthium, contains a compound called thujone. This compound is considered to cause hallucinations or epilepsy, so it makes senses why the legend says people have gone crazy after drinking this liquid. Due to nature of the thujone it is regulated by the Federal Government.
Lucid Absinthe is making its way back and is available in a few locations. These locations include New York, New Jersey, California, and Chicago. It is expected to expand down the road so we shall see what locations have it in the future. This liquor is 124-proof so it is not mild by any means.
