Doppler effect is a very interesting science term. The Doppler effect showed up on the TV show “The Big Bang Theory” on CBS tonight. It was Sheldon’s Halloween costume for the Halloween party and was pretty humurous.
The Doppler effect is the change in frequency and wavelength of a wave as it is perceived by someone watching it that is moving relative to the source of the waves. The Doppler effect can occur from either the movement of the source or by the movement of the person watching. It has many practical uses and is used in Astronomy, Temperature measurement, Radar, Medical imaging and blood flow measurement, and Underwater acoustics to name a few.
Doppler effect can be seen in the photo above and is probably the easiest illustration available. If you are interested in making this into a Halloween costume, go for it. I think it is an extremely unique idea except for the fact that Sheldon on ”The Big Bang Theory” wore it. I can’t imagine anyone else thinking of it though. If we find any more information on the Doppler effect we will provide an update.
