Jeremy Blake and Theresa Duncan

Jeremy Blake and Theresa Duncan were both found dead over this summer. Jeremy’s body was found off the coast of New Jersey with an apparent suicide note left under the boardwalk there. Theresa’s body was found in July and is suspected she died from an overdose. It has yet to be determined if it was a suicide or not.
Jeremy Blake and Theresa Duncan were romantically involved. It seems like Mr. Blake might have killed himself because of Theresa’s death. They were both known publicly for the different types of work they did. Jeremy was well known for his work as a digital artist. He graduated from the California Institute of the Arts and has created some very unique and abstract art work. He is one of the first to create digital artwork on his computer; the animated collages would combine changing colors and shapes mixed with photos to create a new type of image. Theresa Duncan was a filmmaker, writer, and video game development. She wanted to create a different type of game that focused more on discovery and search and not so much on conflict and combat like so many games in the industry are today.
Jeremy Blake and his work are most recently being featured at the Corcoran Gallery of Art. His work can be inspiring for young artists as it shows them that it is ok to be unique and original. One piece being featured is called “Glitterbest,” which features Malcolm McLaren. Theresa Duncan is best known for the three videos games she created called “Chop Suey, Smarty, and Zero Zero.” She was also very much into collecting rare perfume’s, which I find to be very unique. I have never heard of someone collecting rare perfumes before.
Jeremy Blake and Theresa Duncan’s death were both very strange. It is most likely that one did not want to live without the other. It seems like a tragic event but was talked about because of the status in the communities. Newsweek had a special about them in one of their August 2007 magazines. We will update you with any breaking news if any more information is released about either of their deaths.
