Christina Butler arrested in Tampa, Florida yesterday on charges of lewd and lacivious battery.  Christina Butler is a 9th grade teacher at Middleton High School.  Apparently some teenagers were pulled over for driving out of control, by Tampa Police.  It turns out that the driver of the vehicle did not have a driver’s license and told the police that they borrowed the car from their friend Christina Butler. 

Christina Butler was asked by police to come down to the scene where the teenagers had been pulled over.  While police were waiting for her to arrive one of the students in the car made some strange remarks stating the one of the students was really good friends with Christina Butler.  When she arrived at the scene she was questioned about the incident and first replied saying that the relationship was “platonic”.  Later she admitted that the relationship had been sexual in nature with the boy. 

Christina Butler was arrested she posted bail of $7,500.  This is yet another case of teacher misconduct.  It seems like this is a growing trend in our country.  Why does this keep happening more and more?  Maybe it’s not happening more and more, maybe teachers are just getting caught now.  Both ways it is wrong and teachers really need to learn that there are laws against this kind of behavior and eventually they will be caught.  We will update you with any breaking news on this case.
