Ricky Davis, Mark Blount, And Antoine Walker Trade

Ricky Davis, Mark Blount, And Antoine Walker Trade

Ricky Davis and Mark Blount were traded to the Miami Heat.  Ricky Davis and Mark Blount were teammates on the Minnesota Timberwolves.  The two were traded for Antoine Walker, Michael Doleac, and Wayne Simien.

Ricky Davis also known as “Ricky buckets” should help to fill in for injured Dwyane Wade.  Wade had shoulder and knee surgery in the off season and is not expected to return until the at least the 2nd or 3rd week of the season.  Ricky Davis will be able to help out in the scoring department and will help to relieve pressure from Shaq and the other Heat players.

Mark Blount will add another big man to the heats line-up.  He will be filling a backup role this season as he competes for playing time with Shaquille O’Neal and Alonzo Mourning.  The big man does having some scoring touch but likely will not be to much of a factor in Miami.

Antoine Walker pretty much worked his way out of Miami.  He and coach Pat Riley were struggling to get along over a reported conditioning issue.  It was also rumored the Minnesotsa Timberwolves, who received Antoine Walker in the trade, were not interested in the deal at first.  They likely went through with the deal because Walker only has two years left on his contract and Mark Blount, who they traded, had three.  Antoine Walker has played in Minnesota before and it will be interesting to see how he does there this season.

Ricky Davis and the Heat made out well in this deal.  We will see how it works out for both teams and the season goes on.  Minnesota also received Michael Doleac, Wayne Simien and a conditional first round draft pick in the deal.  We will update you on any breaking news if anything changes with the trade deal.

Looks like the Wolves made out in this deal not the Heat.

It should also be known that Riley was really mad at Shaq and that is why he blamed Walker in public. He couldn’t blame Shaq for being fat and Riley knew he was shipping Antoine out of town 4 weeks before it happened. So he blamed Antoine to send a message to Shaq and every paper in Miami knows this.
