John Amaechi, Staceyann Chin, and Manvendra Singh Gohil were all featured today on the Oprah show “Gay Around The World.” The show was created as a response to comments that the Iran President said. President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s stated that there are no gays in his country. Apparently Oprah Winfrey was not to happy about his comments.
John Amaechi is an NBA player who was the first ever player in the league to come out and say that he was gay. Staceyann Chin is a poet that has had some struggles in her life. When she came out and stated that she was a lesbian she was for to leaver the country she lived in, Jamaica. Oprah’s third guest today was Indian Prince Manvendra Singh Gohil. When Prince Manvendra Singh Gohil came out and said he was gay it cause a lot of issues the royal family he belongs to.
John Amaechi cause a big ripple through the NBA when he came out and said he was gay. It was a big deal and there were many news stories discussing to issue. A lot of coaches and players came out and made public statements. There were players on both sides of the issue, some in support and some that were not in support. I think this is always going to be a highly criticized topic in most likely will never go away. Many people are torn between their morals and society. What do you think is right?
