Alicia Kozakiewicz Online Sex Crime Victim

Alicia Kozakiewicz is an online sex crime victim.  She testified today in front of a House committed about her experience and strongly urged Congress to make penalties more severe from online predators by passing new legislation. 

Alicia Kozakiewicz met Scott Tyree in an Internet chat room.  She became friends with him and was soon after kidnapped in 2002 on new year’s day, she was only 13 years old.  Scott Tyree took Alicia across the state line to his house where he locked her in a cage located in his basement.  He then proceeded to torture, beat, and rape her. 

Alicia Kozakiewicz was rescued by the FBI, but this wasn’t before Scott Tyree had taken pictures of her and put them up on the Internet.  This was an extremely traumatic experience for Alicia and she testified today of the real dangers out there that lurk on the Internet.  She states “The boogey man is real.  And he lives on the Net.  He lived in my computer — and he lives in yours,” while sitting in from on lawmakers.  “While you are sitting here, he is at home with your children.”  Wow, this sounds like some chilling testimony and a desperate plea to lawmakers to actually do something about this.  I could not agree with her more, the dangers are very real and are growing.  It is way to easy for online predators to have access to children and it is going to have a affect if something is not done about it.  It seems like you read about something new in the news everyday. 

Alicia Kozakiewicz is not 19 years old and is attending college.  She seems to being doing well in life and is definitely one of the front runners on helping make a difference in the world.
