Michael Bennett Trade

Michael Bennett Trade

The Michael Bennett trade took place on Monday night as the news flys around the league today.  The Tampa Bay Buccaneers made a move to trade for Michael Bennett, giving up a conditional draft pick to the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Bucs needed to make a move to help improve their running game.  With injuries to Cadillac Williams and Michael Pittman the Tampa Bay Buccaneers running game has been less than stellar.

The Michael Bennett trade came on the eve of the trade deadline which is today at 4:00 p.m. and should add some much needed help to the Bucs running attack.  Michael Bennett has been with the Kansas City Chiefs since 2006 and has been in the league since 2001.  In his career he has rushed for 3,426 yards and 12 touchdowns in 81 games.  He has not been much of a factor this year with the Chiefs only rushing 20 times for 52 yards.  Michael Bennett was under contract to make $1.2 million this year and with the trade being almost mid season will make $750,000 for the remainder of the year with the Bucs.

The Michael Bennett trade should provide benefit for both teams as the Chiefs get a future prospect and the Bucs get a running back that can hopefully provide a spark to their running game.  We will have to wait and see how this deal works out for the Bucs, at least they are better off than they were before.
