Wild Elephants Destory Homes On Majili
Wild elephants destroy homes in northeast India. A pack of wild elephants is taking over a village on a river island called Majili. The island sits in the Brahmaputra River and is around 338 square miles in size. The elephants apparently swam to the island from a nearby area in search of food and their calves that roam around. They have destroyed several homes in the village and have panicked the residents. Those without homes have moved into a local school as they have no where else to go. Forestry workers have come to the aid of the islanders and are trying to get the elephants to move away from the village to protect the rest of the villager’s homes.
Not to many of these elephants still exist in the world as they are an extinct species. It will be interesting to see if they are able to move to elephants away from the village before any major injuries or deaths occur. We will update you on any news with this event.
