California tunnel fire brought traffic to a standstill on Saturday after a huge semi truck pileup.  The California tunnel fire took place just north of Los Angeles in a trucks only tunnel.  The truck fire also shutdown northbound and southbound lanes of Interstate 5.

It was reported that some people were stranded on the interstate for more than 7 hours.  That is a long time to be stuck somewhere.

The California truck fire took place after two semi trucks collided inside of the tunnel around 11 p.m. on Friday evening.  The tunnel is approximatley a 1/2 mile long and is only used by trucks.  It was reported that there were at 13 other trucks involved in the accident besides the two that collided.  The injuries piled up fast as there has been news of at least 10 injuries and one person that no one can find.

Rescue crews are still working to get the mess cleaned up as the flames continued to burn and there were continued explosions into the morning hours of Saturday.  There have been no reported deaths in this incident

I can’t believe this has happened. I heard about it on our local all news radio station this evening. We’ve had a few bad accidents around here but this is unbelievable.
