Michele Cossey Charged For Buying Son Guns

Michele Cossey charged for buying son guns and was arrested on Friday in Norristown Pennsylvania. Her son was arrested on Wednesday after he tried to recruit another student for a potential attack on the Plymouth Whitemarsh High School. The authorities found around 30 air-powered guns and a 9mm semiautomatic rifle in the boy’s bedroom. This news is somewhat disturbing.
Michele Cossey had purchased the 9mm semiautomatic rifle as well as a .22 caliber rifle and handgun for her son. She claimed her son did not seem happy and he was very interested in guns so she wanted to help him to be happy. Michele Cossey was charged with possession of a firearm by a minor, corruption of a minor, transfer of a firearm, endangering the welfare of a child, and two counts of reckless endangerment. Apparently the mother was not aware of some of the laws in Pennsylvania surrounding weapons of this nature. Under state law it is ok for someone underage to own a air guns and pellet guns. It is the other three weapons that are causing the serious issues.
When authorities searched the boy’s home they also found explosive devices considered to be homemade grenades. They also found BBs that were setup to have gunpowder added to them. They found some of the BBs that had already had the gunpowder added and others that were setup to do so.
With Michele Cossey charged for buying her son guns she chose to make bail and went home on Friday. The boy was still being held at the juvenile detention facility and was ordered to stay there until a psychiatric evaluation could be conducted to determine the boy’s state of mind. It is unclear whether the boy actually intead to follow through with his plan but the evidence that he was recruiting someone else to help with his plan is a big sign that would leave us to believe it very well could have happened. We will have to wait and see how this plays out and how the court decides on all of these issues. We will update you with any new news that is released.
