JK Rowling sues over fake Hogwarts Castle? Yes this news is true, organizers of a religious event in India have built a Hogwarts Castle replica. The castle is made from a combination of papier mache and canvas. The organizers of the religious event are building the castle for the Durga Puja festival in the city of Kolkata. Two million ruppees, which is equivalent to $50,000, is how much JK Rowling sues the organizers of the religious event for. This is not a lot of money for the trouble that JK Rowling and her publishers will have to go through filing this lawsuit. The organizers of the event say that the castle is almost finished and that they do not have the funds to pay a fine of $50,000. They plan to continue to prepare for the four day festival because they do not know what else to do.
I do not see the harm in this religious group from India building this replica castle. They are a not-for-profit organization and are not building it to make money. At the same time I understand why JK Rowling wants to protect what she has built. That’s why I think JK Rowling sues over fake Hogwarts Castle. It will be interesting to see what comes of this. The Delhi High Court has issued a summons to the builders of the Fake Hogwarts Castle to appear in court on Friday and present there defense to the lawsuit.
