Michael Devlin Talked Out Of Killing Shawn Hornbeck Potosi Missouri

Michael Devlin talked out of killing Shawn Hornbeck? That is what Michael Devlin stated in court on Tuesday in Potosi, Missouri. Shawn Hornbeck was abducted in 2002 and sexually assaulted several times by Michael Devlin. Devlin provided testimony stating how he took the boy to rural Washington County with the intent of taking Shawn’s life. He then continued to state how he began to choke the boy when Shawn convinced him to stop and told Devlin that he would do anything he asked as long as he did not kill him. “This boy made this contract, this deal with the devil, only to survive,” this is what John Rupp, the Washington County prosecutor, stated.
This news is an unbelievable account of what took place and horrific in nature. Shawn Hornbeck endured the unthinkable to preserve his life. Only he will ever understand what he went through as this will surely greatly affect how the rest of his life is lived out.
Michael Devlin pleads guilty to sexual assault, attempted murder, and kidnapping and was given multiple life sentences as a result. If you include the sentencing given to him on Monday Devlin will not be eligible for parole for more than 100 years. The nice thing about him accepting the plea deal and pleading guilty is that the boy will not have to testify in court. This will prevent him from having to go through all the memories and emotions of what took place.
