Chicago Marathon Runner Chad Shieber Dies, 300 More Taken To Hospital

Chicago Marathon runner Chad Shieber dies running one of the biggest marathons in the country. It has been reported that more than 300 people were taken to the hospital. The race had to be stopped prior to its completion and those that had not reached the half way point by 11:45 am were rerouted from the normal race route as the course was shut down. There was a reported 35,867 people that started the Chicago Marathon and only 24,933 people completed the race. That is a ton of people that die not or were not able to complete the race. The interesting thing to note here is that this was the hottest day the race was ever ran in its long history. The temperature got up to 88 degrees which is the hottest it has ever been in Chicago on October 7.
It was not evident as to the cause of death for Chicago Marathon runner Chad Shieber. An autopsy has been scheduled to help determine the cause of death. Chad Shieber was a 35 year old police officer in Michigan. He collapsed during the running of the race and was pronounced dead at the hospital. There have been no other deaths reported at this time.
